Indian Women's Hockey Team Wins Asian Games Gold After Over Four Decades

The Indian Women's Hockey Team won the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026, India's first women's hockey gold at the Games in over four decades. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team, crediting outstanding skill and teamwork and calling their determination inspiring. A day later the men's team also won gold, so both Indian hockey teams won gold at the same Asian Games for the first time. For exams: India's only earlier women's hockey gold at the Asian Games came in 1982 in New Delhi.
