Indian Delegation Led by Harivansh Takes Part in 153rd IPU Assembly in Arusha

An Indian parliamentary delegation led by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh is taking part in the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Arusha, Tanzania. Speaking in the General Debate on the theme 'Enhancing good governance and empowering communities through inclusivity, trust and opportunities for all', he urged parliamentarians to strengthen transparency, uphold accountability and nurture public trust. Delegation members joined sessions on mental health, UN reform, ocean and mountain ecosystems, international humanitarian law, ethical AI and maritime security. Harivansh met outgoing IPU President Tulia Ackson, and the delegation held a bilateral meeting with Russia's Konstantin Kosachev. The Rajya Sabha Secretary-General met IPU Secretary General Anda Filip, the first woman to hold the post in the IPU's 137-year history.
