Overview

National Insurance Company Limited (NICL), a Government of India undertaking headquartered in Kolkata, has issued its advertisement for the recruitment of 321 Administrative Officers (Generalists & Specialists) in Scale I. Of these, 200 are Generalist posts (UR 80, OBC 55, SC 30, ST 15, EWS 20) and 121 are Specialist posts: Finance (CA & CMA) 20, Legal 20, Information Technology 10 plus 1 backlog, Automobile Engineers 20, Risk Engineers 28, Company Secretaries 2 and Agriculture 20. A candidate can apply for only one discipline.

The starting basic pay is Rs. 82,485 in the scale 82485-4050(14)-139185-4390(4)-156745, with total emoluments of about Rs. 1,14,000 per month in metro centres. Officers serve one year on probation, must pass the Insurance Institute of India's non-life Licentiate examination, and sign a bond to serve at least four years. Company Secretaries will be posted primarily at the Head Office in Kolkata.

Online registration opens on 8 October and closes on 28 October 2026. The Phase-I online preliminary exam is on 17 November 2026 and the Phase-II main exam on 22 December 2026. Final selection is on Main exam (objective) and interview marks in the ratio 80:20.

Phase-II Mains (online): 250-mark objective test - Reasoning, General Awareness, Quant, English and Computer Knowledge, plus a professional knowledge test for Specialists - and a 30-mark descriptive English test (qualifying).
Interview, with final merit on Mains objective and interview marks in the ratio 80:20.
Document verification and pre-employment medical examination. 1/4 mark is deducted for each wrong objective answer.
