Overview

The National Testing Agency has invited online applications for the Rashtriya Indian Military College Entrance Examination 2026, for admission to Class VIII at RIMC Dehradun for the term beginning July 2027. Applications opened on 01 September 2026 and close at 5:00 PM on 30 September 2026, with fee payment accepted until 11:50 PM the same day and a late window from 01 to 07 October 2026 on payment of an additional Rs. 500.

RIMC has trained young people for the armed forces since 1922 and is a feeder institution for the National Defence Academy. Entry is at Class VIII only, so the age condition is strict: a candidate must be not less than 12 years 6 months and not more than 14 years as on 01 July 2027.

The entrance examination is a pen and paper test scheduled for Sunday 06 December 2026 across 39 cities. It has descriptive papers in Mathematics and English and a General Knowledge paper of multiple choice questions, which is unusual at this level and rewards written practice rather than only objective drilling. The fee is Rs. 1,000 for General, wards of defence personnel, ex-servicemen and OBC (NCL) candidates, and Rs. 750 for SC and ST candidates.
