Industrial Output (IIP) Grows 8.0% in August 2026

India's Index of Industrial Production (IIP) grew 8.0 percent in August 2026, up from 6.7 percent in July 2026, according to the Quick Estimates released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. Manufacturing grew 9.0 percent, electricity 12.3 percent and water supply, sewerage and waste management 6.3 percent, while mining and quarrying contracted 5.6 percent. The index stood at 123.3 against 114.2 in August 2025, and 18 of 23 manufacturing industry groups recorded positive growth. Motor vehicles and electrical equipment were among the top contributors. For exams: IIP Quick Estimates are released on the 28th of every month, and the series now uses the base year 2022-23=100.
