DRDO's High-Altitude Platform Reaches 21 km in Flight Trial
DRDO carried out a successful flight trial of its indigenously developed High-Altitude Platform (HAPS). The experimental flight reached 21 km above mean sea level and stayed at 20 km for more than 30 minutes before descending; the system was recovered and its flight data analysed. The platform is a lighter-than-air system being developed as a long-endurance stratospheric aerial surveillance platform (airship) by the Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE), Agra. The trial was conducted with the Indian Air Force, CEMILAC, DGCA and the Airports Authority of India. For exams: HAPS is a stratospheric airship being developed by ADRDE Agra; it reached 21 km in this trial.
