The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) of the Department of Telecommunications, together with ICAR, hosted the second meeting of the UN Global Initiative on AI for Agri-Food Systems (GI-AI4FS) alongside India Mobile Congress 2026 in New Delhi. GI-AI4FS is coordinated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) with the FAO, IFAD and the World Food Programme. About 70 delegates attended in person and 25 online to advance cooperation on using AI and the Internet of Things in agriculture - for precision farming, early detection of crop diseases, traceability and reducing post-harvest losses. The meeting followed a two-day International Hackathon on 'AI for Agri-Food Systems' on 8-9 October at the ICAR campus, whose winning teams were recognised. For exams: GI-AI4FS is a UN initiative coordinated by ITU with FAO, IFAD and WFP.
