Tamil Nadu Gets Its First Barrier-less Multi-Lane Free Flow Toll Plaza
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rolled out Tamil Nadu's first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system at the Paranur toll plaza on the Tambaram–Tindivanam section of NH-179B. MLFF removes toll barriers, so vehicles pass through without stopping while tolls are collected using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and FASTag. The system is meant to cut congestion, fuel use and emissions and to make toll collection more transparent. For exams: MLFF stands for Multi-Lane Free Flow, and Tamil Nadu's first such plaza is at Paranur on NH-179B.
