World Mental Health Day 2026: Tele-MANAS Crosses 47.75 Lakh Calls

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is observing World Mental Health Day on 10 October 2026, with the global theme 'Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change'. Tele-MANAS (Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States), launched on 10 October 2022, provides free, confidential, round-the-clock counselling through the toll-free helpline 14416. It has received 47,75,644 calls and has 53 cells operating across all 36 States and UTs, with women accounting for nearly 44% of recorded callers. Mental health services have been integrated into over 1.83 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and the District Mental Health Programme is sanctioned for 767 districts.
