Standard Names Given to 28 Places and Features in Ladakh on Survey of India Map

The Government of India, in consultation with the Union Territory of Ladakh, has identified 28 places and features in Ladakh by standard names on the official Survey of India map, to help the public recognise them accurately. The list includes peaks such as Atisha Giri, Kanishka, Martand Giri, Zorawar, Rinchen Zangpo, Sakyasri Giri, Marpa Lotsava Ri and Milarepa Kangri, passes such as Chapchingal and Shachmirk, the Parpik and Skamri glaciers, Shkorga valley, Guru Rinpoche lake and the Yangpa river. For exams: the Survey of India, founded in 1767, is the country's national mapping agency under the Department of Science and Technology.
