CDS Inaugurates Project Seabird Phase IIA Infrastructure at Naval Base Karwar

Chief of Defence Staff General N S Raja Subramani, who is also Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, inaugurated residential accommodation for senior sailors and naval defence civilians, along with trunk utility and amenity infrastructure, under Project Seabird Phase IIA at Naval Base Karwar on 8 October 2026. The new facilities at East of Manzil Creek and Amadalli include two towers of 60 dwelling units each, living accommodation for 156 DSC personnel and a kindergarten school. Phase IIA of Project Seabird supports the basing of ships and submarines at Karwar and includes a dual-use Naval Air Station, a full-fledged naval dockyard and logistics facilities. The base will house about 10,000 uniformed and civilian personnel with families, will be IGBC Gold rated on completion, and sources over 90% of materials and equipment domestically. चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ और सैन्य मामलों के विभाग के सचिव जनरल एन एस राजा सुब्रमणि ने 8 अक्टूबर 2026 को कारवार नौसैनिक अड्डे पर प्रोजेक्ट सीबर्ड फेज़ IIA के तहत वरिष्ठ नाविकों और नौसेना के रक्षा असैन्य कर्मचारियों के आवास तथा ट्रंक यूटिलिटी और सुविधा ढांचे का उद्घाटन किया। ईस्ट ऑफ मंज़िल क्रीक और अमदल्ली में नई सुविधाओं में 60-60 आवासों वाले दो टावर, 156 DSC कर्मियों के लिए आवास और एक किंडरगार्टन स्कूल शामिल हैं। प्रोजेक्ट सीबर्ड का फेज़ IIA कारवार में जहाज़ों और पनडुब्बियों की तैनाती में सहायक है और इसमें दोहरे उपयोग वाला नौसेना वायु स्टेशन, पूर्ण नौसेना डॉकयार्ड और लॉजिस्टिक्स सुविधाएं शामिल हैं। यह अड्डा परिवारों सहित लगभग 10,000 सैन्य और असैन्य कर्मियों का आवास होगा, पूरा होने पर IGBC गोल्ड रेटेड होगा, और इसकी 90% से अधिक सामग्री और उपकरण देश में ही प्राप्त किए गए हैं। परीक्षा के लिए: प्रोजेक्ट सीबर्ड कर्नाटक के कारवार में नौसैनिक अड्डा परियोजना है; वर्तमान CDS जनरल एन एस राजा सुब्रमणि हैं।
