Navy to Commission Samarthak, First of Four Multi-Purpose Vessels, at Karwar on 16 October

The Indian Navy will commission Samarthak, the first of four indigenous Multi-Purpose Vessels built by Larsen & Toubro, at Naval Base Karwar on 16 October 2026. Designed mainly for maritime surveillance and patrol, she can also serve as a target deployment and trials platform, mothership for unmanned systems, and for HADR, with conversion to a limited hospital ship. Her crest shows an Indian elephant rising from the waves. For exams: the ship's motto is 'Vijayartham Ekanishthata' (Victory is Our Sole Aim).

भारतीय नौसेना 16 अक्टूबर 2026 को नौसेना बेस करवार में लार्सन एंड टुब्रो द्वारा बनाए गए चार स्वदेशी बहुउद्देश्यीय जहाजों में से पहले 'समर्थक' को कमीशन करेगी। इसे मुख्यतः समुद्री निगरानी और गश्त के लिए बनाया गया है; यह लक्ष्य तैनाती व परीक्षण मंच, मानवरहित प्रणालियों के मदरशिप और मानवीय सहायता व आपदा राहत (HADR) में भी काम आ सकता है और इसे सीमित अस्पताल जहाज में बदला जा सकता है। इसके प्रतीक चिह्न में लहरों से निकलता भारतीय हाथी है। परीक्षा के लिए: जहाज का ध्येय वाक्य 'विजयार्थम् एकनिष्ठता' है।
